Hello - new to the forum, hope you can help. 
Found in Clumber park today on a beech log, about 1 inch high. Any thoughts?

Hi Falcn, and welcome to WAB.
To me, this looks like a newly emerging Amethyst Deceiver - Laccaria amethystina. - (But then, I've been known to be very very wrong  ).

I've had a suggestion that this could be a Violet Web Cap. What do the experts think?
Amethyst Deceiver or Violet Web Cap? 
btw - this was taken in Clumber today. Pity I didn't see your foray earlier, I would have enjoyed a trip round there with you guys.

I would say A. deceiver. If you stick around there will probably be another meet at Clumber next October.
