About 7mm long on the underside of a pear leaf- taken yesterday South coast UK.

| | | Re: Is this a fungus ? Yes Brain, it's a gall caused by a fungus - I think Gymnosporangium sabinae is the causer. It requires two hosts - pear and juniper. |

it's not quite that simple - there is the remote possibility also of Gymnosporangium confusum on pear - they are best differentiated by seeing whether the peridial cells have ridges or isolated warts
though confusum is mostly confined to Crataegus in this country
