What do you reckon to this one?

about 10cm across growing on the trunk of half-dead Beech in the New Forest.

Postia stiptica could be a possibility, but is not often found on hardwoods.

Did you consider Spongipellis spumeus?

Try comparing it with the description and photo of this species in Phillips and see what you think.

Looks close Manwithnoname.

Will go back to see if it smells of Anise.
