| | | Identify/confirm/refute 1. In small clumps under pine. Stab in the dark: desiccated Armillaria , maybe Cortinarius sp
2. Galerina marginata? sorry about poor gill shot, they were beige/cream. Lack of obvious ring on stipes makes me doubtful.
3. Hygrophoropsis aurantica?. Clumped under pine.
4. Lactarius in mixed woodland [namely birch], latex very acrid, hot, peppery.
5. Clitocybe nebularis?
6. Finally, found on sandy meadow near dunes. Presumed Hygrocybe sp, psittacina?
Grateful for any help, cheers |

| | | Re: Identify/confirm/refute Just realised there may be a problem with the photos [you may not be able to open them], had a bit of a 'mare uploading them and a bit too late/early to start over. May have to test your skills at long distance ID... sorry |

| | | Re: Identify/confirm/refute long distance isn't really on, with a study that so often invokes microscopy
although it can vary surprisingly I don't think that the last one is psittacina; Hygrocybe conica and possibly its var. conicoides is more likely, both are often found in dune systems
I would recommend another go at uploading
Chris

Forgot this one. Point taken Chris, not sure what the problem was last night but these uploads seem functional now

2/3 - possibly a Gymnopilus in the G. penetrans area?
4 yes
5 yes
comments about the Hygrocybe hold true . . .
cheers
Chris

Simon | except that G. penetrans is in a bit of a confused state (hence my deliberate use of the word "area"; to quote from Gymnopilus penetrans entry in the 2005 Checklist of the British & Irish Basidiomycota:
"Very common and widespread but species limits are still unclear.
Some authors also include G. stabilis and G. sapineus in the synonymy of this species, whilst recent research suggests that G. hybridus sensu auct. may be distinct (Holec, pers. comm.)."
