| | | Pholiota, maybe aurivella Hi folks
I believe this to be Pholiota aurivella (cerifera) Golden Scalycap a species I can't remember finding before. However, the log that they are on is willow and all the Notts records in the FRDBI are all on beech. Quality of picture not good - typically I did not have my SLR at the time. The caps were viscid. Perhaps the rings were ephemeral? No smell and a slight mushroomy taste. Spore size and shape are spot-on for P. aurivella.
Thoughts would be welcome
Thanks.. |

It was taken on the nature reserve at Attenborough, the picture is rather overexposed in places and underexposed in others. I went back yesterday hoping to get a balanced exposure but they have been knocked off

| | | Re: Pholiota, maybe aurivella Yes they are Teresa,
I realised a couple of days ago that I had mis-id'd the log - mine were on ash and not willow. Ash is a known substrate and I am now happy with my id. They are usually to be found on beech like yours though.
