| | | 2 for ID please I'm having trouble with these two, which I came across this morning.
The first I think is a Coprinus? but which one?
And the second I would like to think is a Snowy Waxcap - Hygrocybe virginea
but I'm really not sure...very tiny, growing in grass alongside tarmac path, shaded by willow and alder.
Thanks for looking. |

| | | Re: 2 for ID please the first is a "Coprinus" indeed - although that genus has been split recently - I'm afraid that to take it species level you generally need to do the microscopy (characters of the veil - if it has one, and spores)
the second one isn't a Hygrocybe - a view of the gills would clinch it immediately; looks like a Mycena, or just possibly an Entoloma . . . spore print would settle that; but if you wanted to try and work out which species the dreaded 'M' word would appear again!
best wishes
Chris
