| | two fungi in pine/tamarisk grateful for help with these two please
1 on tamarisk, (in greece, sorry, but should be same as ours?) - Trametes gibbosa?)
2 two specimens found in dry aleppo pine woods - maybe , tentatively chalciporus piperatus?
not much else besides the pics I'm afraid -had to sunbathe first, so these were just grabbed shots.
Cheers
Ken

Purely guessing, I would come up with the same as you for 1 & 2.

Great to have a second opinion!
Trametes seems clear, the bolete is more guesswork maybe, but can we both be wrong? (of course we can!)
Cheers

Ken | Hi guys
You were right
to say you are both wrong Chalciporus piperatus is usually not as solid as your find and it has a bright yellow mycelium unlike your fruitbody. It is a Suillus and might be collinitus.

| | | Re: two fungi in pine/tamarisk I suspect both are something else I'm afraid . . . the Mediterranean mycoflora is by and large rather unlike ours, so although one might find species close to those we find in this country they are probably different
the bolete could be a rather dried-out / nibbled Suillus; and the bracket may well be a tamarisk specialist . . .

That's rather a big Tamarisk that bracket is growing on Ken, I suppose probably being native to Greece, they would grow a lot bigger there.
Is that a cuckoo I can hear in the background ?

| | | Re: two fungi in pine/tamarisk He he, well done, yep, great spotted cuckoo.............................
Oh well, I did consider Suillus too, but the flesh yellow throughout confused me - maybe its the Aleppo Pine bolete, closely related to the Larch bolete..... anyone for retsina?
Cheers all
