| | | ID help/confirmation please I`m pretty sure this is Armillaria sp but it was fruiting in soil under arable Miscanthus? although trees were within 20 mtrs.
Is this Hyphodontia sambuci. It was on a dead branch which could have been Elder.
This one was also on Elder and looks interesting, I might have another look tomorrow. I have`nt a clue what it might be?
Cheers

| | | Re: ID help/confirmation please Hello Pete,
Yes, your first is an Armillaria sp. and if you dig down, you will find it is attached to buried wood. Throw the wood as far as you can if it is from your garden.
Your second does look like Hyphodontia sambucii
Not sure what No3 is going to become, but the tree does not look to me as Elder should.
Show us another photo in a few days time.

No 3 was definintely on Elder albeit a very ancient one and I`ve been back to monitor the progress; here is the latest stage of development;
I think it might be Pleurotus dryinus
Anyone care to comment?

I wasn`t sure if the scales on the cap were too coarse. Having read up on the species and Googled images till it hurt, I couldn`t find a picture showing scales like these.
