| | | mushrooms in my greenhouse these have been growing in my greenhouse for a week or so now. i wondered whether they might be Collybia Maculata, but there's no bitter taste as far as i can tell.
they obviously like it warm and moist, because i've been keeping it pretty closed and warm to try to ripen my toms!
actually, the in-situ shot is a bit of cheat because i'd already pulled up all the mushrooms before i decided to take the photo. still, that's where they were!
any ideas?

Interesting picture, It does not ring any bell to me those specimens, but I can tell you, It is not Collibia Maculata.
Thanks,

| | | Re: mushrooms in my greenhouse Hello Morgy,
Looking from above I first thought Lepiota, but the gills seem to be decurrent placing this within Clitocybe.

| | | Re: mushrooms in my greenhouse i didn't think the gills were decurrent actually, but looking at the cross section again, maybe they are. without cutting them, most specimens don't look decurrent, but... what's the technical definition of "decurrent"? where does "cap" stop and "stem" begin?

| | | Re: mushrooms in my greenhouse hmm. "extensive" seems quite subjective.
my current assessment is that they're pretty definitely not decurrent. |

| | | Re: mushrooms in my greenhouse So, looking at the drawings whatever, in your fungus book under the heading of gill shape, what would you say they are. ?

| | | Re: mushrooms in my greenhouse If you have the new Philips, go to page 90 and take a look at the fungi shown, particularly those that have been cut in half - can you see how similar the attachment of gill to stem is to your photo ?
These are termed as decurrent gills.

| | | Re: mushrooms in my greenhouse i have the old phillips - i think many of the photos as the same though; which species are you referring to?
i've attached some photos of more of the mushrooms - do the gills still look decurrent to you? perhaps they are - there's no obvious delination between cap and stem - maybe it all counts as stem?
thanks for your patience!
