| | | A Waxcap & a Disco (Maybe?) Both found today during a very wet rainy walk in Fagus woodland.
No.1 - Growing in open grassy area adjacent to the woods.
Cap sizes 40 & 50mm across, stipe heights 100 & 110mm tall.
Caps very viscid, stipes quite scurfy along whole length.
I'm thinking they might be one of the waxcaps but not at all sure.
No.2 - Growing on a fallen branch.
I'm thinking Lemon Disco - Bisporella citrinus, but would appreciate confirmation/other.
Largest individual fruitbody about 3mm.
(I have found Dacrymyces stillatus recently, and this doesn't look like that, but haven't previously seen Bisporella citrinus).
Regards,
Mike |

Not a waxcap but Mycena epipterygia .. or is that Bolbitius titubans lol
Bisporella citrina as you suggest is most likely for your second image

Looking in my books these would appear to be much too large for M.epipterygia, but I'm not sure whether B.titubans goes fully "flat" capped like these Quote:

Regards,
Mike. EDIT - Just seen the last two posts. Are we agreeing on B.titubans ? |

It is very variable!
Bisporella citrina can often be found on wood under the loose bark on dead birch.

John | Thanks John - the stipes on Pauline's image are exactly like those on mine were. I'm 100% convinced - B.titubans.
Also, the B.citrinus were originally under loose bark when found, (but I was in Fagus mode - the woods being almost entirely that one species. However, having just checked the exact whereabouts of the find on google maps (satellite view) there are several Birch in that immediate area.
