Gallery images- whats the deal?

O.K been trying for days now to get some quality images into the galleries, however I shrink the files to the sizes as asked in the Gallery down load section and then after doing all the typ etc it tells me they are too small, try putting them in larger and its says they are too big! exactly what size do the have to be because it seems all my rezizing doesnt fit with the sites reqiurements even when i do what it tells me to do ie minimum 600x800 maximum 1600x1600?

I think WAB might be suffering some problems still and the image uploading has been affected. Could be that, I don't know

just managed to get one through! seems 1600x1200 is the desired format!

I generally upload them at 880 x 600 with no problems. The only thing I can think of is the actual file size in kilobytes of your photos. Can't remember what the maximum file size is but I try to keep mine under 250kb if possible

I upload my shots at 1200 or 800 on the longest side and always optimise the file size to 250k and have no problems

I upload mine at 800x600 so that all of the editing and post processing work I do shows in the immediate image. Anything uploaded larger than 880x600 will need a click to optimise and show any of the editing performed. As Roger says though, obviously larger picture, larger file!

1200 on the longest side works for me too, quality is never an issue because i only ever use my mobile phone.

Exactly the reason why I try to upload at this size Nick. It's not always possible to stick to these dimensions but I do as far as is possible.

Thanks guys, I did do it by Kb, by pixels and every which way! seems to function at 1200 long side so till it fails me again I shall proceed, I am not much of a wiz with the difference between pixels kb?

Pixels being the tiny dots that make up your screen, the pixel size dictates the actual length or width of the image. If you check out any landscape format images in my Gallery, you'll see that they're a set size of 800 pixels wide x 600 tall. If you uploaded an image 1600 pixels wide x 1200 tall, the image would be double the size of mine on screen. Because you're taking up more pixel space, the image demands more information thus making the size of the file larger. File sizes are measured in kilobytes, megabytes and gigabytes and 1024kb (the WAB limit) is roughly 1 Megabyte, so try and keep your images under that.
