Struggling To ID These.

All found today, I'm getting nowhere in my attempts to identify these: -

No.1 Growing on a very rotten Fagus Log.
Cap sizes up to about 40mm, Stipe heights about 60mm.

No.2 Growing on Rotten Log (Not Sure, but probably Fagus).
Cap sizes up to about 75mm, Stipe lengths similar.
Both caps & stipes appeared to have a "velvety" sort of texture

No.3 Growing on same log as No.2 above.
Caps up to about 70mm across, Stipes up to 75mm in length.

No.4. Growing on same log as No. 1 above.
Unfortunately caps not yet expanded, but both caps and stipes have distinctive markings

, with stipes being quite substantial in thickness.
Largest specimen in photo about 50mm across, stipe length about 100mm.

Any thoughts on ID's much appreciated.

Hmm, nice selection there Mike! Here's my tuppence;

1. Mycenoid, but err '

2. Perhaps Pluteus, but err '

'

3. Pluteus again, either Pluteus chrysophaeus or Pluteus leoninus
4. Possibly Gymopilus junonius.

Hope that gives you something to start with,

No.3 does look good for P.leoninus.

I thought No.4 might be a Gymnopilus. but none of my books seemed to be close enough with the pics.

I would suggest Mycena galericulata for the first and with a pale but tomentose cap Pluteus ephebeus for the second.

Maybe Mycena alcalina for no 1
Pluteus seems on the right track for number 2 but hints of Volviarella seem to be given (just a thought) hybrid perhaps ha, ha
Pluteus leoninus looks good
Gymnopolis junonius perhaps - big and bulky

M alcalina has now been split into either M stipata and M silvae-nigrae and both usually grow on conifer.

I revisited the site today. Don't know if any of these additional photos might be of benefit towards ID's: -

No.2 Today (shows the floccose cap slightly better, plus a slight change in colouration).

No.4 Today (Gills still not expanded, but a section of one fruitbody might assist).

Cheers Flaxton and yes indeed on Conifer - a moments blank. As for the split well thank you as I wasn't aware of this - I presume the differences are microscopic - aagghhh!

OH just to add - if you google M Alcalina and then the two species you mention there is a vast difference in appearance with the foremost species showing more greyish specimens of which I am most familiar with - are there some errors out there. More incredible knots to get tied up into it seems.
