| | | Entoloma I found this while out a couple of days ago
Hadn't got a clue where to start so it got left until all the others had been done It produced a pink spore print so a quick look at the spores took me to Entaloma and with that shape to E undatum. Has anyone seen this species before and if so does this look right.
Thanks

The cap photo was bad (I am blaming the new camera) but it does show a zonate cap.
After a lot of searching I found one cheilocystidia.

| | | Re: Entoloma If that is a cheilocystidium then that can't be E undatum, though it isn't perhaps a particularly convincing cystidium Were there clamps? Incrusted pigment in the cap?
BTW I don't have a clue, even though I'm asking the questions, just like to see others tackle / struggle with Entoloma, and maybe learn some new tips .....
I was flicking through the two Nordeloos Fungi Europaea volumes on Entoloma yesterday, borrowed from a friend, and, well I think I've probably walked past rather a lot of Entoloma and not even realised that was what they were. They are certainly a very diverse looking group.

In FOS is says there are occasional marginal cells which look like the ones I found but F Nordica says no Cheilocystidia. I will check for clamps and encrustation in the pp.

Mal | Nordeloos' Fungi Europaea and FAN1 also mention the occasional marginal cylindrical 'hairs' for E undatum. If the other characters fit then you could be on the right track .... There are a few picture links on the Polish Website, which look like yours Index of fungi pages or photographs on The Net - E-G - grzyby.pl
Except for E conferendum, (which I do like (and also hate) because you know it is one once you see the spores), I do the cheilocystidia, clamps and pigment type search as a matter of course ... though usually I'm still left scratching my head even when I've got that info. So good luck!
