| | | Field mushrooms near Winchester? Hi, just wondered if anyone could recommend where I can find ordinary field mushrooms near Winchester? I've never found any in the likely looking places, eg horse and cow meadows. I could go on one of the recommended forays but suspect that the focus would be more on the exotic varieties...
Thanks!
Dave

| | Re: Field mushrooms near Winchester? Hi Dave and welcome to the forum.
I don't know what the weather has been like in Winchester, but in the midlands we have not had any rain for ages and everywhere is getting dry with les fungi to find day by day. If you go out a week after the rains have come you will stand a much better chance of finding field mushrooms.
I would recommend that you go on as many organised forays as possible to learn about all fungi and to appreciate their beauty and be amazed by the complexity of their form and structure.

Quite a tricky thing I think given how short a 2 hour foray is to learn fungal charcteristics. |

| | | Re: Field mushrooms near Winchester? I have been learning about fungi for the past 25 years and I feel I still have a lot more to learn. Dont' try and rush it, it will take time, so take your time and enjoy it.

PS: great site btw, never seen it before! | Tip: For the most reliable sources try Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Waitrose .... And when you have just bought the biggest punnet going then you are the most likely to come across one in the wild .... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
