| | | where are the mushrooms i've been out and about looking for fungi in the past few weeks, in woods and grassland and more. seen quite a few species but not much and mostly just on dead and rotting wood, some in grass. however, there's not much variety, and from what i've seen on here, people are finding loads! i suppose we avent really had much rain and the ground does seem dry. i live in nottinghamshire. is it still a bit early in the year1 to find a diverse range or should i just keep looking? how is september usually for mushroom foraying, as i normally dont start going til the end of the month/early october. |

Wait till we get a few days of heavy rain, then leave it a week and there will be plenty. |

| | | Re: where are the mushrooms its true, some places are pretty dry, most of those I do find at the moment dessicated before fully developed, like alot of people in here i too am just dying for a heavy few days rain to bring it on.
will say this though, having been dry for a while at this time of year things will be mental when we do get the rain. i cant wait.
with regards to time of year some fungi prefer warmer weather like hispidus for example which sporalates july august, even laetiporus will come out in june, its always worth a look, and if you find nowt at least you had a nice walk. i nebver need an excuse to walk in my favourite wood, spring summer fall its all good. |

| | | Re: where are the mushrooms i thought the rain may have been a problem, its barely rained at all recently, i guess i'd be moaning if it was tipping it down though! went for a walk on thursday with the aim of finding some fungi, but it was so hot and dry that there was nothing, but it was a great day for other wildlife! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
