| | Coprinus parachute help! Today, at the edge of the local cricket club meadow on wood chippings - 3 or 4 only, past their best but which coprinus is it please?
Patouillardii, lagopus/lagopides (microscopy?) spring to mind maybe?
Gills with very black edges now, some veil remains on cap, stem with lots of downiness point more to lagopus I suspect, but help needed ..............
Thanks a lot

Ken | Hi Ken
Probably Coprinopsis lagopus given where you found them but microscopic examination would be required to differentiate between the similar and common Coprinopsis lagopides which has smaller, less elliptical spores.
If it was charred wood remains / burnt ground than Coprinopsis lagopides would be a good candidate!

Happy to help!!
Nice pic too - and welcome to WAB!
Just a thought though - if on dung, might not be the same................... sensible to post it with full details and ask for ID help?
Cheers

Ken | Hi Ken
Thanks, yes I know to ask for help but I'm a bit reluctant to continually be asking for help with ID when I can't help others. I think of it as stretching the goodwill of the expert folks here.

| | | Re: Coprinus parachute help! I wouldnt worry in the least about that, certainly for fungi and insects where I need a lot of advice, its always forthcoming in a friendly wayon WAB.
Just do it, we all need to learn and move forward with these things.
Cheers
Ken
