| | | Not exceptional but big none the less I found what i suspect to be very large Dryads Saddle Polyporus squamosus i had read they grow to 12 inches across but it was quite a surprise to see them up close.
The largest stem was 2" thick and the largest cap 12" across, the pores were white on the immature fruits, very open and brown to black on the mature fruits, the smell was very mushroomy the whole way around the tree.
If i'm wrong please to set me right
Thanks in advance

| | | Re: Not exceptional but big none the less These are as you say dryads saddle, as for the 12 inches, they get a LOT bigger, over 2ft across sometimes. Sycamore and ash are their favourite hosts but lots of broadleafs get polyporus squamosus.
It is a handsome bracket when just emerged. |
