| | | Chicken Of The Woods. hiya guys
Just wondering in which conditions Chicken Of The Woods grows. I have heard that chicken of the woods tends to grow on oak stumps but am not totally sure. Ever since my friend told me how superb it was to eat, i have frantically searched for it but have never found a trace. Would be grateful to hear from people who have found it and also who have eaten it.
Thanks...

| | | Re: Chicken Of The Woods. There was a huge Chicken of the Woods growing on a live oak near us about a month or so ago. Would not dare to try eating it, though. My fungus identification skills are not good enough!
Here is a photo...

| | | Re: Chicken Of The Woods. Yeah pretty sure they are both chicken of the woods. The colours vary from specimen to specimen. In my Roger Phillips, it is photographed as a bright yellow bubbly lump! They both look similar to chickens feet! Cheers Jenny
