| | two twiggies Hi everyone,
grateful for help (indeed, confirmation!) with these two please.
1/ this in abundance on rotting twigs under brush cover, Crepidotus variabilis?
2/ This was on just one twig again under brush cover - appears similar to Rustroemia firma in Jordan - short stipe flat to cup shaped cap, appears darker at the cup edge. unsure of wood, possibly birch, cherry or hawthorn.
Cheers
Ken

this could have gone on the pick-up sticks thread
I would tend to agree with the Rutstroemia, could the twig have been Quercus? it looks like it and that would figure although this fungus does occur on other substrates . . .
there are too many Crepidotus species to be sure which one without microscopy - it could be C. cesatii for example; you can see some spores on the gills so I think you are correct with Crepidotus but there's a surprisingly large number of 'crepidotoid' genera
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: two twiggies Hi Chris, yes, should have gone on pick up sticks, forgot.......
And Oak spp are common there in the mixed woodland, so that sounds a good ID - happy with crepidotus spp too, that will do me for now.
Many thanks again,
Ken
PS some interesting stuff today from dovestones and its conifer woods, so will post when I can after initial ID attempts!

harrumph! - must organise a meet sometime . . . .
