| | waxcap poo mycena? Thought that title would get your interest!
three for help please..............
1/ This presumed waxcap is about a pinhead size, newly emergent, should be able to go back when its bigger if needed.
At the mown outfield of the cricket club, so might get hammered soon though.
The gill shot shows somewhat decurrent, and broad, so I suspect cantharellus or coccinea, but miniata and marchii are close too apart from gills?
Cap is reddish at the centre, yellower at the edge and slightly depressed to one side.
Trooping - lots of ever so tiny ones showing on close looking.
2/ On dog poo, slime mould springs to mind, but maybe its not a fungus??!!
3/ this one, presumed a mycena/small bonnet is familiar, but its lost me.
On garden soil with a woodchip mulch. Small , about half inch across cap. No appreciable smell.
Thanks a lot
Ken

Your first looks like Orange Mosscap - Rickenella fibula
No real idea on the others.

Mike. |

yes, that seems to fit the bill in many ways!
Especially size and cap colour variance...........
I might just try and wander past them again tomorrow - rushed as usual today, dog walking and grandchildren !
Cheers
Ken

| I agree - on the middle photo you can clearly see abundant cystidia along the stipe - which would immediately rule out Hygrocybe
cheers

Your Mycena (yet another grey specimen) could be one of half a dozen or so. The filopes/metata smell of iodine but that can be missed until it is drying out. Others leptocephala and aetites usually have darker gills than your find. Fresh galopus and abramsii usually bleed white and clear liquid when the stipe is broken (did you check this). I would have said abramsii is restricted to earlier in the year but as I found one today yours could be the same.

Mal, thats good for leads - I find these quite confusing so its a great help and I'll check them out better (next doors garden) - as you say there are a number of similar things out there - these from last week in some woods too.........................
Cheers
