| | | Fungus for identification I initially thought Tremella foliacea but it was growing from the fallen branch of a Scots Pine?

| | | Re: Fungus for identification agreed and interestingly I have found it on several occasions growing with Stereum sanguinolentum like yours - presumably to do with the state of decay of the wood?
cheers

| | | Re: Fungus for identification argh mr yeates your an interesting chappy, it just so happens that the Foliacea I shot was on a BIG old beech felled by Ustulina deusta, I have been going back to it for several years and have watched with interest at the various fungi that have taken advantage of the massive amount of wood present it was interesting to me that oysters erupted almost as soon as it fell and I am certain these are always present in wood, just waiting like the indian paint fungus. but it seems some fungi prefer to have their meals semi digested as your observation hints at. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
