| | | Amanita query I found this growing on the tired end of a sweet chestnut crown. A very handsome looking Amanita troop of three. What struck me straight away was the colour which was a light lime green that appeared to radiate from the fruit body. Unfotunately it shows up a bit flat in the photos.
Most of the Amanita citrina boxes are ticked for me but for the girth overall is large for ones i find in the area & colour. Again this is where we hit a block to a large extent as i dont have the microscopy option but has anyone found a lime green A.citrina before?

| | | Re: Amanita query Sorry i omitted, its smell was fairly strong, hard to describe, it had the same effect as bleach or ammonia i.e forced to turn my head and stop sniffing but not anywhere near strong enough to make me gag. Sorry but it was unpleasant but nothing like a phallus sweet putrid smell. Both my brother and i concurred. |

| | | Re: Amanita query Really quite strange to see. You can truly get a feel for how these kind of visual effects would have influenced a sense of meaning to people , pre science.
