Hi
I found a cluster of these growing among birch trees this morning and almost burst into song. Then stopped myself short at the thought that they might be Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca. So I picked a couple and thought I'd ask the good folk of WAB to dispel or confirm my fears. I reckon the gills look fairly "fold" like to me - whaddya reckon?

Nothing false about those!
Once you find Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca you'll never be confused again.

Thanks everybody - I knew you guys would help me out! I went back this morning and got a nice basketful. Even found an orange birch bolete to boot -role on teatime! |
