| | | Found in woodland near Inverness Attached to dead Larch. 13cms across in largest bit. Lobed. Chestnut/beige cap, solid stipe and dark cream decurrent gills which are close together. No latex apparent. Both cap & stipe very velvety to touch. Spore print cinamon/brown. The stipe in some of the specimens was very dark brown where the gills met it and then it became creamier.
This particular one was in a dead Larch stump but since finding it I have found lots more around both on Birch stumps and amongst dead coniferous branches. They grow quite quickly and the largest now is almost square at 22cms. They frequently grow in groups but not always.
Any and all help to id this is much appreciated. Thanks. |
