Unidentified slime mould?

Hello,

Can someone confirm if this is a Slime Mould?

I work for a Local Authority and a member of the public has sent the image in, asking for help to get rid of it. Any comments on rarity?

It looks like Dog Vomit Fungus, it was named that when it was thought to be a fungus but now is classified as slime mould, not sure on rarity but it is supposed to be harmless and from what I have read that if you remove it, it will usually return.

PS I have heard that its latin name roughly translates to "sticky stuff on the bottom of Bob's shoes (not sure if thats true.

Mucilago crustacea. It is quite common especially in damp autumn conditions. It does not denote any underlying problems on your grass and it will be gone in a few days but as Arnie said "I'll be back"
