| | | went on a walk today... in a local graveyard in nottingham, hoping to come across some fungi. not a lot about except one big field mushroom as i entered, and then there were these... if i could have some help in identifying/confirming them, i'd be very grateful!
number one
nearest i could find was Boletus chrysenteron, but i'm not 100%
i think this one is the same, but obviously a little older
number 2 is what i think is an earth=ball of some sort but they were really small, about the size of a brussels sprout, and were very tough
number 3 is odd, it was laid broken on the ground and didnt have any gills or anything, the cap and stem were just laid next to each other, right near the bolete (number 1). the photo doesnt really show much but it was quite tough and rubbery and had yellow.brown, almost woody looking flesh inside as you can see from the end of the stem
cheers for any help folks! |

| | | Re: went on a walk today... The description of Xerocomus communis fits with this find. Cap minutely cracking stipe yellowish with pale rose pruinosity at apex. This has now been overtaken by Xerocomus engelii which is described as having yellowish stipe with red punctae or striae in the middle but the rest of the description fits. So I would go with that.
The "ball" is a Scleroderma.
The last one is almost certainly the same as the first but has been attacked by Hypomyces chrysospermus.
