| | | Mushroom ID went for a walk around attenborough NR in nottingham today and came across a patch of these growing by the path in some grass. i thought by their caps they might be Lepiota, but they were growing in a clump and hadnt seen this in lepiota before. having looked online, i thought they might be Agaricus silvaticus, but again i think i'm wrong as i didnt notice any ring on the stem and they werent growing under any trees.
any help would be appreicated!
also- they had very dark brown gills |

| | | Re: Mushroom ID Hi
The surface texture of the cap and the dark brown gills almost certainly indicate a species of Agaricus, however there are lots of species in the UK and without a good key, a microscope and plenty of patience and practice it is unlikely you will can get an accurate identification to species level, however somewhere around the Wood Mushroom (Agaricus sylvaticus) group of species is quite likely.
