| | | boletus badius? confirmation or correction svp. we found this a couple of days ago and its been on my mind, I'm pretty sure that there is enough different with this one for it to be the first one i've seen, its around 4''(10cm) across the cap and around that height too. found on the margin a mix of broad leaf and pine and sweet chestnut coppice. cap velvety, pores open and very pastel yellow in colour(bruised greeny brown but not shown in photo), stem white at either end brownish in the middle with darker brown streaks but no evidence of it being reticulated. some of my references contradict themselves on a couple of the features but i keep ariviving at the Bay bolete- Boletus badius in some books Xerocomus badius
what ever it is its a very handsome mushroom and if it is a bay bolete then great if its anything else then please let me know if its rare and then a double bonus |

looks OK to me - I'm assuming the images are rather over-exposed?
cheers

| | | Re: boletus badius? confirmation or correction svp. Thanks for the confirmation guys. really pleased to have found one one day i may find enough for me to try one
Re quality I'm getting a bleaching effect to some of the pics i'm up loading, shame because bearing in mind they are from a phone the originals are pretty good although i does struggle if sky is involved or low light but no flash, if i use flash i lose some definition. one day i'll treat myself to an s.l.r, a quality lens and learn how to use one of these fancy typewriter thingies
