Identification request - Lactarius sp
I think the following may be Lactarius rufus , but I would appreciate any comments or correction.
Loch Druidibeg, South Uist, Western Isles. 13 August 2009
Habitat - growing in moss at base of Scots Pine, wet peat substrate. Alder, birch and willow nearby.
My apologies for not photographing the underside to show the gills.

Hi Chris

Given the colour, jiz and under pine would be a fair suggestion of L. rufus. Did you taste the milk? First mild and then very acrid / hot

I'm fairly sure about this one. If it ever stops raining, I'll go back and have another look and taste the milk!
