| | | Help with ID for 3 fungi Hi, I have some rather old photos of three fungi which I'd appreciate any help with identification for. I'm afraid the photos are not great - no gill shots or anything - but even some indication towards genera would be helpful.
1. Possible Psathyrella species?
2.
3. |

| | | Re: Help with ID for 3 fungi Tempted to think that the second and third set of images show Clitocybe nebularis. They have that 'flour dusting' appearance. The smaller specimen upturned on the left of the screen (second image) shows gills that match C. nebularis. |

| | | Re: Help with ID for 3 fungi Hello,
the first one is a Psathyrella, definitely from the corrugis-gracilis-microrrhiza group (there are some more in this group). It shows comperatively large fruitbodies. a cap that is turning rose coloured when slowly drying and the cap is getting wrinkled. If you want to determine it, you have to carfully dig it out to see, if it has a radix or not.
The 2nd is very probably Clitocybe alexandri. I don't know its distribution in Britain, if its rare or not. In Germany it is in most areas very rare or absent, on calcareous soil here and there not too rare (e.g. in my area ). Clitocybe inornata would be another possibility.
The 3rd I can't identify, but hesitate with Lepista nebularis.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Help with ID for 3 fungi Hello Nick,
correct. But the ripped margin doesn't please me.
So of course you can well be right. But I have a little bit of doubt, just enough to not say "yes" with certainty ...
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Help with ID for 3 fungi Ah, I do see what you mean. That sort of ripped margin you'd expect to see in Paxillus involutus. Very odd. |

Another thing what disturbed me perhaps is, that the fungi seem to be quite small.
But nevertheless, Lepista nebularis is also in the race ...
best regards,
Andreas
P.S.: Sometimes this forum seems to be more like a Chat ....
