I think I've narrowed this ID down to
Agaricus moelleri - Inky Mushroom , but some features don't match for an ID I'm confident with.
Reading through various descriptions of
Agaricus silvicola - Wood Mushroom versus
Agaricus moelleri - Inky Mushroom they seem remarkably similar, main differences appear to be toxicity (one being poisonous the other good edible

) smell, taste and season, so any diagnostic differences between the two that you know of would be appreciated.
Note the yellow stain on the cut section, I have seen what I have previously ID'd as Agaricus moelleri - Inky Mushroom growing in these same woods (21st Sept 2008) , but the yellow staining was far more noticeable on that example.
Habitat: mixed woodland, on leaf litter or up turned tree stump roots
Smell: mushroomy, pleasant
Cap: 100mm
