Dunnet Forest Fungus
This is the most northerly fungus I snapped on my trip, growing under conifers in Dunnet Forest.



Have to say I was a bit surprised when I turned one over. Pretty sure it's a Suillus, pretty sure not grevillei.

Did it have a ring on the stem? I can't see from the photo.

Looks like Suillus flavidus to me, which is a nice find. I've only ever seen it in Scotland.

Hello,

yes, I also say Suillus flavidus. The ring zone is only visible in wet weather, because it is totally consisting of slime. In dry wheather it dries to nothing ...

I'm afraid I only picked one and I didn't notice a ring. They were a bit past their sell by date.
