two tiddlers for id please

two very small fungi for id please,
two small ones for id please,
no 1/ found on part of a fallen beech, no more than 10 mm tall 5/6mm across the cap, very fragile, crumbled to pieces when tried to pick one for gill shot, gills were white, no noticeable smell to it,

no2 / this one was a little larger with a cap of 10mm and stipe 20mm, cap dry and smooth, ring to stipe, growing on decayed wood debris,

any pointers in the right direction would be great,
thanks,
Brian.

Re: two tiddlers for id please

For number 2 (and I could be barking up the wrong tree entirely) a Cystoderma or Cystodermella maybe?

2 makes me think of a stunted Armillaria

Re: two tiddlers for id please

Hello,

I think the second one is Tubaria confragosa! Usually this is said to be a scandinavian species. Sometimes it is found as glacial relict in temperate zones in bogs in higher elevation, e.g. in the Black Forest in sw-Germany on 700-1100 meters. Where does this finding originates from?

best regards,
Andreas

Re: two tiddlers for id please

thanks to every one for their comments/suggestions so far,
as to location of no2, it was found in Clumber Park, which is far removed from being of an high altitude or boggy area, it is in the main fairly dry and sandy soil, and i would think at, or just above sea level,

Brian.

Re: two tiddlers for id please

Hello,

I meant how north the location lies in England. E.g. in Scotland Tubaria confragosa is not unusual, as far as I know.
Does anyone know the distribution of Tubaria confragosa in Great Britain?

best regards,
Andreas

Andreas
There are only 22 records on the national data base. They are spread from Scotland down to the south coast.

Re: two tiddlers for id please

Hello,

if the distribution is down to the south, then I'm very sure with the determination of Tubaria confragosa!

best regards,
Andreas

NBN Gateway: Tubaria confragosa grid map

there is a record from Carlton-in-Lindrick, just the other side of Worksop from Clumber . . .

Re: two tiddlers for id please

Hello,

in germany Tubaria confragosa is very rare, in West Germany it has only been found in two or three locations in the Black Forest. I found it in great quantities in Finland once and they first looked like an Armillaria to me. But the gill colour was quite strange for Armillaria

best regards,
Andreas
