two small ones for id please,
no 1/ found on part of a fallen beech, no more than 10 mm tall 5/6mm across the cap, very fragile, crumbled to pieces when tried to pick one for gill shot, gills were white, no noticeable smell to it,

| | | Re: two tiddlers for id please Hello,
I think the second one is Tubaria confragosa! Usually this is said to be a scandinavian species. Sometimes it is found as glacial relict in temperate zones in bogs in higher elevation, e.g. in the Black Forest in sw-Germany on 700-1100 meters. Where does this finding originates from?
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: two tiddlers for id please thanks to every one for their comments/suggestions so far,
as to location of no2, it was found in Clumber Park, which is far removed from being of an high altitude or boggy area, it is in the main fairly dry and sandy soil, and i would think at, or just above sea level,

I meant how north the location lies in England. E.g. in Scotland Tubaria confragosa is not unusual, as far as I know.
Does anyone know the distribution of Tubaria confragosa in Great Britain?
best regards,
Andreas

There are only 22 records on the national data base. They are spread from Scotland down to the south coast.

if the distribution is down to the south, then I'm very sure with the determination of Tubaria confragosa!
best regards,
Andreas

there is a record from Carlton-in-Lindrick, just the other side of Worksop from Clumber . . .

| | | Re: two tiddlers for id please Hello,
in germany Tubaria confragosa is very rare, in West Germany it has only been found in two or three locations in the Black Forest. I found it in great quantities in Finland once and they first looked like an Armillaria to me. But the gill colour was quite strange for Armillaria
best regards,
Andreas
