| | | fungus on Amanita rubescens spotted this today on the remants of an Amanita rubescens,
the cap top surface was also covered with it as well,

This is quite common on A. rubescens .... and if I could only remember the name of the fungus, I'd tell you what it was

John | Hi John,
its a new one to me, most of the rubescens i see either turn into a slimy mess, get eaten by slugs, or just kicked to pieces 
there are plenty of Boletes around with white or yellow mould on them (Hypomyces chrysopermus ??) but i have either not seen this one before or simply not took a close look at the old rubescens,

ps: if you were planning on having a look down the grass verges on clumber lane tomorrow, from trumans lodge down to the cross roads, i think you will find things a bit sparse, as the man with the mower has been along and scalped the lot, and just as there were one or two nice patches of waxcaps, among other things appearing |

Thanks for the tip. They must be getting it ready for our Clumber foray 
Les and I will be going to Clumber on Sunday ... where the mower can't get!

I think it's the 'phycomycete' Syzygites megalocarpus
