| | | Three (probably) fungi needing ID help These three were in addition to today's lichen photo's.......IDs and comments very appreciated
Q1. Whatever it is its a beauty!
On damp ground near the edge of a lake, largest disc approx 5mm in diameter
Q2. On fallen dead wood, approx 7mm tall
Q3. Not sure what this is, but it was very fragile and strangely beautiful.
Approx 2.5 cm in length on grass stem. |

top one is a Scutellinia species - very attractive I agree - unfortunately there are over 20 of them in Britain and Ireland and it's a microscope job
middle one looks rather like the earlyish stage of a myxomycete (slime-mould)
last one is definitely a slime-mould - Mucilago crustacea
best wishes
Chris

| | | Re: Three (probably) fungi needing ID help Thanks for that Chris - I'd wondered if the last one might be a slime mould. Wish that Scutellinia was a lichen! |

I am always happy to look at dried material of Scutellinia and similar species - drying does not destroy any of the features needed for identification
PM me if you wish
(I can't do lichens tho' )
best
