| | | Fungus - no idea what Found this growing at Malham Tarn in very wet sphagnum/polytrichum in an area that was cleared of birch/willow carr about two years ago. I'm assuming it's something old that has been infected with something else - but could be totally wrong of course - and am just curious as to what it might be/have been.
Any ideas?

| | | Re: Fungus - no idea what Hello Rob,
you have a good feeling for nature, indeed!
Yes, as you I think it is seomthing infected. This is very probably a pretty gone Russula or a Lactarius species, parasited by Hypomyces spec.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Fungus - no idea what Thanks again - I'll have to try and get a bit under the microscope to see what it looks like.
