| | | Chanterelle heaven Went out yesterday to a nice wood and it was Chanterelle heaven. There were loads of little chanterelles popping up. Unfortunately didn't get any photos. Seems like its a good year for them.
Can anyone tell me what chanterelles are like once dried. Do they go tough when reconstituted?
Cheers

They are not at there best when dried. Any spares I have are cooked in butter and then frozen

| | | Re: Chanterelle heaven Hi,
I have been picking them ever week since the end of May. This season is OK for but last year was much better. However, this is year (so far) has been excellent for Ceps (Boletus edulis). |

Mal | Hi Mal,
Do Chanterelles grow in the York area? I'd like to try to find a few to see if I can propagate them to get mycelia to inocculate new areas near us.
Thanks,
John. |

I have no reliable sites close by. One good area has just had all the trees removed so I am waiting to see if that helps or hinders their growth.
