| | | Myxomycete Update I posted this on Tuesday this week for possible ID, but was advised that it wouldn't be possible at that (plasmodial) stage of growth.
As I was in the vicinity, I re-photographed it on Wednesday afternoon: -
And again today: -
I appreciate that any chance of an ID will still be a long shot, but - nothing ventured, nothing gained. (Plus, I think the photos of the development are interesting ).
Regards,
Mike. |

No, it's relatively easy to ID now .... Arcyria nutans. In a few more days, a mere breath will blow them away! This is one of the larger myxo's as you will have noticed.

| | | Re: Myxomycete Update John - You just stole my thunder
I have just been browsing the very useful Gallery of Myxomycetes site, and had just come to the very same conclusion
But thanks very much for that. If you say it's A.nutans, then it makes my agreeing ID of it that much more satisfying.
Regards,
Mike. EDIT - If the first photo is the plasmodial stage, are there names for the second stage and third stage as depicted by the photos? - Regards, Mike.
