| | | A Mixed Bag For ID Help Please All found today: -
No.1
Could this be Crocicreas cyathoideum?
Quite numerous on very small fallen twigs & herbaceous plant stems.
height about 3mm (largest), width about 3mm (largest).
No.2
Very slimy & soft. Has been on top of this stump in this same condition for over a fortnight. Looks as though it might have green algae in the jelly.
I thought possibly an Exidia species but can't find anything remotely similar looking.
No.3
A myxomycete (or two if the white one is a separate species).
Some of the Arcyria and Tubifera species look vaguely similar, but I've no real idea here.
No.4
Growing on a small rotting twig, amongst moss & leaf litter.
Cap size 4mm, stipe height about 15mm
I'm thinking Marasmius/Marasmiellus but can't find anything from photographs that looks the same.
No.5
Growing on the extreme tip of a very small fallen twig.
Cap size 10mm, stipe height about 20mm
It seems to have the macro characteristics of Marasmiellus ramealis, esp. the scurfy stipe.
No.6
Growing amongst moss. I think directly in soil, but there were some remnants of very rotten twigs amongst the soil, which they could possibly have been on.
Largest specimen about 50mm tall, cap diameter about 10mm
Any pointers towards ID'ing any of these would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: A Mixed Bag For ID Help Please Hello,
no. 1 is (nearly) sure Hymenoscyphus albidus. It grows exclusively on the petioles of Fraxinus.
no. 2 is an algae and not a fungus nor a myxo.
no. 3 not yet to determine because still in the plasmodial stage.
no. 4 Flammulaster carpophilus, I would think.
no. 5 yes, Marasmiellus ramealis
no. 6 Laccaria laccata, the Deciever.
best regards,
