| | | Re: Need ID Help With These Five Please. Hi again, Mike
No. 1: Wow! this reminds me to Lactarius volemus, which I didn`t find since my childhood (but I loved it to fry them , gills up, simply on the hotplate with some salt). But I am really not sure they are since the habitus is not typical. They should be more sturdy.
The others are 90% russulae and hence I shut my mouth (no. 4 is not, but even more fishy for me...)

| | | Re: Need ID Help With These Five Please. Just a pointer on Lactarius Mike; If you're sure it's a Lactarius and exudes latex from the gills, then it's completely safe to place a small amount of 'milk' on your tongue to taste for acridity, mildness or other odd flavours. It's a key factor in Lactarius ID. Also worth putting a small amount of the latex on a handkerchief to note colour changes after a small amount of time.
I do understand why some are a little hesitant to try the latex, but once you get your taste honed in, it helps!
...just watch out for L. turpis though
Nick
