Hygrocybe nigrescens or conica ?
a solitary specimen in a grass verge, a bit past its best,
cap approx 60mm, stipe 65mm no noticable/unusual smell to it

given the size i opted for H.nigrescens, but not at all sure,
could it be H.conica ?

These two are now considered to be the same species.

thanks Mal. thats easily sorted then my copy of jordans must be way out of date given the number of name changes on several species i have looked at lately

It's not just Jordan most of the books have some species/genus out of date by the time they are published.
