Can anyone identify this fungus. Needle like and growing on decaying wood. Only lasted two days and was gone! |

I think you are looking at something called Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa which grows on pine logs/debris

This is my first posting to WAB forums.
Have only been fungi hunting since Autumn 2008 and have collected over 200 different species and am using WAB and Roger's Mushrooms to id the fungi. Is there another site you would recommend?
