i need to work out how to use the measurement eyepiece, but not sure if i have got the calibration method right, as the measurements taken so far seem way out for published ones

Do you need a stage micrometer? I still need to get hold of one but they're not cheap. £65 I think The best bet is to borrow one to calibrate the eyepiece- I was supposed to be borrowing one from Neil Mahler (SFG) but we sort of got carried away with fungi so much on that foray that we forgot to even mention it. Hopefully i'll see him soon and give it a mention

i have the stage micometer, its the calibration instructions that came with it that are a little vague and not easy to follow, (or maybe its just me)
i probably need to just sit down and work it out properly, and then i may get
the correct results,

I have one It may not be up to the accruacy of a £65 version but it gives me pretty acurate results. I can bring it to Clumber if you can wait that long.
