| | | Requests for ID and information on those LBJ's Hello all
I hope you are all reaping the benefits of our hottest driest summer
It’s about this time onwards that we start getting requests for ID and information for certain types of fungi (… you know the one’s I mean ) from new members.
Can I please ask that you report such threads and do not reply to them.
Thanks and happy hunting

I always thought they were(John's) later, but will look a little closer now!
First waxcap on monday, so things are wet and earlier I think, as Melanie said a few days ago - blackening first this year for me. More please.
Sorry, off thread....................

| | | Re: Requests for ID and information on those LBJ's There are plenty of other forums out there for those lbjs ... I seem to be landing on them a lot .... some have some very good microscopic information too Thank you google ...
Actually I'm discovering that Google Books on poisonous fungi have very detailed microscopic descriptions, better than the usual fungi books, I suppose because if anyone has eaten something poisonous and gets rushed to hospital these are the books that are intended as reference books, with all the details to make a very accurate id ...

Melanie | Roy Watling was instrumental in making sure that hospitals had quick keys to identify anything toxic
then again it's difficult enough naming some of these fellers in controlled water /cotton blue / congo red mounts - imagine throwing stomach contents into the equation - now we're talking hardcore fungus identification
Chris

Chris | I found one book (online) very useful for verifying Inocybe praetervisa, without stomach contents I hasten to add ... the only place I could find to check that all the microscopic features matched, given my very limited library ....
