I and a colleague have come across this one on numerous occasions and are keen to put a name to it.
Grows with conifers and fairly common in the area, the one in the photo is a bit of a midget had a cap of 1.5cm and stem height of 2-3cm. and was solitary.Have found others in the area with caps to 3cm.
Wondered whether it could be Hypholoma marginatum (=H.dispersum), would welcome views or suggestions for alternative.

Don't think its Cystolepiota sistrata (=Lepiota sistrata), from what the books tell me this tends to be a small fungi white in colour max.1.5cm dia and usually found on mown grass, lawns etc the sort you tread on without noticing.
The one in the photo was found in the middle of a conifer wood growing on the leaf debris amongst moss. Some specimens found have been up to 3-4cm dia.
Looks like it is going to remain a mystery.

| | | Re: Views Sought. Received a couple of further suggestions for this one:-
Collybia drophila 'Russet Tough Shank' - looks promising.
Galeriana hypnorum - differing views on whether it is found with conifers or not, but also good contender.
Both fairly common apparantly.
Anyone like to comment?
