| | | Possible Marasmius oreades I think this is Marasmius oreades but would appreciate other opinions to either boost my confidence or shatter my illusion of progress in the field. They were quite prolific on my walk on Saturday alongside the path and ranged upto 60mm cap dia. The second image does look a bit on the large size for the species and was from a different group from the first image . Has anyone else found many of them around recently?
Cheers

That looks good to me. Almost free gills and a distinct umbo. It usually has a tough stem so check that out.

They are mushrooming in very good numbers in the area near me right now.

Thanks for the info Melanie. I always find it helpful if other people are picking up a particular species at the same time. It`s one bit of macro info that helps the non-micro enthusiasts.
