| | | Two More Boletes for ID Help Please. Found today, both growing directly in leaf litter soil, below (mainly) Birch & Beech.
No.1 about 10cm tall, and about same cap diameter. Obviously "cracking" cap and pale yellow pores, but definitely not Boletus chrysenteron. Definite bluing when bruised.
No.2 stipe about 75mm long, cap diameter about 50mm. No bluing when bruised.
Any pointers towards ID's much appreciated.
Regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: Two More Boletes for ID Help Please. Hello Mike,
the first one should be Xerocomus porosporus. The dark stipe which has appr. the colour of the cap and only a small red ribbon near the apex in oldert fruitbodies is quite distinctive. It sometimes looks like a small Porphyrellus porphyrosporus.
The second one is a young Xerocomus badius.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: Two More Boletes for ID Help Please. Thanks Andreas & Chris.
Very satisfying to have identifications, as yet again, these were new species to me, with just the one of each specimen being found.
Hopefully, now knowing what they are, and the location/habitat in which they were found, I might see a few more in the near future.
Regards,
Mike. |
