| | | Fungal Foray Frenzy... Hello all,
Just wondering whether anyone out there could help me out with a few fungi I came across in the woods around Sheffield. I've just started a course and the enthusiasm's there but as yet not the expertise. I've had a stab at a few of them anyway. Sorry the photo's are a bit duff... many thanks for your help!
Thought this could be Grifola frondosa - found at the base of a Pedunculate Oak.
And this Russula nigricans? Found in troops under Beech.
Not much idea on this one, found in grass near Silver Birch.
Ditto but sadly can't remember nearby trees.
How about a Lycogala sp.? Fantastic stuff... on fallen Beech.
On fallen Oak I think it was.
Found near Silver Birch again.
And lastly this one. Is this perhaps a Gymnopilus or an Armillaria?
Many thanks indeed!

The first one is Grifola frondosa as far as I can see.
The fith one is definately not Lycogala, without a closer look I would say it was Asocoryne cylichnium it comes in two forms and looks as both forms are present.

| | | Re: Fungal Foray Frenzy... Thanks very much for this guys, I think you're both entirely right with your suggestions. Still no ideas on pics 4, 6, and 8 but they're not great photos...
Cheers
Chris
