| | | Lancashire Fungi Walking part of the Witton Weavers Trail around Turton & Entwhistle Reservoir, Wayoh Reservoir and Jumbles Reservoir. Here's what I found today:
Think this one is a Dryad's Saddle but stem does seem a bit central.
This one almost certainly a Suillus grevellei - right colour and under larch trees. A first for me.
Not really sure on this one thought maybe agaricus but the cap seems wrong. Growing on woodland floor under conifer, cap about 60-70mm Ø.
Any help appreciated.

| | | Re: Lancashire Fungi Hi, your number 3 looks like it could be Amanita rubescens (the blusher)
with the pink tinge to the flesh,

| | | Re: Lancashire Fungi What was the size of the large specimen in the first photograph Laura?
I agree with Brian's ID of A. rubescens for the third |

| | | Re: Lancashire Fungi Thanks Brian, fooled by the veil remnants being washed off. Should have guessed after all it has been very wet
Nick, the big one at the bottom of the pic was 250-300mm across.

| | | Re: Lancashire Fungi Difficult to be sure from that photo but it could well be Agaricus augustus The Prince.
Was there any distinctive smell?

| | | Re: Lancashire Fungi Stew, did you check the underside to see if it showed gills or pores. If this was gilled, I think Mal's suggestion (presumably based predominantly on size of aforementioned species) is the best you'll get. However, they seem to be adopting the 'Polypore position' with a depressed centre, so could these be growing from wood beneath the surface? |
