| | | Anglesey Just got back from Anglesey and managed to fit a quick foray or two around the golf Managed to id about 30 species no really good finds but because there are obviously so few mycologists registering their finds a dozen or more were firsts for the area.
This rather weather worn Trametes (hirsuta?) was growing on (probably) Beech
but as can be seen from the underneath it has taken on a dark red hue.
I am sure I have seen Trametes like this before (and may have even posted here but I can't locate any posts). Can anyone tell me if this is unusual or am I totally wrong with the id.
I also found a good collection of Geastrum which although last seasons fruitbodies have no collar
the size and shape of this years "bulb"
convinced me it was G. triplex.
Any thoughts

Mal | cant help you with the id Mal, but i found one almost identical, perhaps a bit more worn than yours, in Rother Valley Country Park (south yorks) on Sunday,
i had not seen one with such red colouring before,

| | | Re: Anglesey With the help of MJ at the AFBG I have identified the red as Hypomyces rosellus
Under the scope it showed up the "infection"
from which I teased out the Perithecia

By the way, what's your display picture showing? Looks like a plethora of Boleti |
